Need to Know: Heirloom Percale.

Asking us to pick our favorite sheet is like asking us which of our kids we love best; we love them all, all the time, and for different reasons.

Spring is trying to bust out in Portland [our Meyer Lemon trees are spending the nights outside, but our two tomato plants aren’t ready to leave their pots and covered porch] which is the only excuse we need to change our sheets.

Heirloom Percale is, in this moment, our favorite sheet, and it’s a pleasure to tout its attributes after a perfect night’s sleep on them [we’re still drinking our coffee!].

Here are the details:

  • Pure Egyptian cotton. Its “long-staples” make it THE choice for any fabric that touches the skin because it feels so soft and sensual. Those long fibers also make the bedding last longer, which is always a good thing!
  • 800 thread count. The number of threads going both ways on a loom isn’t the only thing to consider when buying sheets but it is an important component.
  • Very thin yarns [counted in microns] are needed to get to an 800 thread count, and the finer the yarns, the finer the fabric. If you want to get nerdy and have an extra read about this, go here.
  • Ultra-luxury linen details like ample sizing, covered French seams and a discreet and modern single-needle hemstitch trim. Read more about the details here, on our product page.
  • Made in Italy, so, hey, it has to be fantastic, right?

But why is it our favorite sheet right now? Because of its high thread count, it’s ever so slightly heavier than our Perfect Percale which has a 464 thread count. [But, remember, it’s also made with thinner yarns than Perfect Percale.] And because it’s made with finer threads, it just has a more luxurious feel while still retaining a cool, crisp hand.

So, in our linen world, Heirloom Percale is perfection, for right now, as the night air drifting into our bedroom becomes less cool.
